No. AFT Singles licensed competitors who have reached the age of 18 years and have participated in a minimum of 18 American Flat Track events during the last three seasons may enter the AFT Production Twins class at events. Riders who hold an AFT Twins license may enter in the AFT Twins or AFT Production Twins class at any event; however, riders may only compete in one twin-cylinder class at any given event. NOTE: AFT Twins licensed competitors may not compete in the AFT Singles class.

No. Entry due dates are ten (10) calendar days prior to an event.

Yes. Late Entries will be accepted up until 12:00 Noon ET five (5) calendar days prior to each event.

No. Entry cancellations must be received 24 hours prior to the official start of practice.

No. It is mandatory that all riders attend every Riders' Meeting. The Race Director will always convey event specifics during these meetings. Failure to attend any Riders' Meeting without approval from the Race Director is a breach of the Code of Conduct and is subject to penalty.

The top 30 riders from the combined timed qualifying sessions transfer into the AFT Twins or AFT Production Twins respective racing programs.

The top 45 riders from the combined timed qualifying sessions transfer into the AFT Singles racing program.

Eight (8) riders from each Semi transfer into the sixteen (16) rider Main event (all classes).

No. Only riders who attempt to qualify for a Main in a Semi are eligible to use a Provisional Start to enter a Main.

No. A Provisional Start may only be used to enter a Semi or Main – either from a Heat into a Semi or from a Semi into a Main.

Yes. All riders that enter the AFT Production Twins class will receive one Provisional Start during the 2019 season. Order of entry will determine priority of use at the first round where AFT Production Twins compete. Current point standings will be used to determine priority thereafter.

Within the 5-minute timeframe immediately following an event in which a rider has not transferred, he/she must notify the Race Director of the request to use a Provisional Start. If the Race Director is unavailable, you must notify the Technical Director.

No, the use of a Provisional Start Card has been discontinued for 2019. The Race Director will keep a record of Provisional Start eligibility.

6 riders will line up on the 1st row. The 2nd and 3rd rows will each have 5 riders. Any rider granted use of a Provisional Start will have first choice on the penalty row.

If you stall your machine, raise your hand to notify AMA Pro Racing officials and the other competitors. You will be directed to the inside of the starting line area and the start sequence will begin. You may attempt to restart your machine and enter the race up until the leader completes the second lap.

No, only battery powered air blowers may be used in Staging, Grid, Hot and Cold Box, or in Single-File Restart areas. You may rinse your radiators with water in your designated pit area between sessions.

The rider is the only person permitted to make adjustments at this time. Any manual adjustments not requiring tools must first be approved and then observed by an AMA Pro Racing official.

Starting in 2019, if a rider has a legitimate mechanical failure or damage from a crash causing the machine to not meet post-session tech, the following penalties will apply:

  • Practice or Qualifying: All timed laps will be invalidated from that session.
  • Heat or Semis: If the rider is in a transferring position, the rider will start the next race or any complete restart from the penalty row.
  • Mains: If the rider finished the race, a lap or time penalty will be issued and he/she will be scored as the last active rider to take the checkered flag. If the rider dropped out prior to the end of the race, he/she will be scored in either in the position during which he/she dropped out or behind the last active rider to take the checkered flag, whichever is lower.

Engine builders and tuners may need to lower the starting compression ratio, adjust ignition timing and modify fuel tables when optimizing use of Sunoco 260 GTX racing fuel.

The Acerbis Supermoto fender, part number 0008033, is pre-approved for use in AFT Singles competition. If a competitor wishes to use a different supermoto style front fender, a written request must be submitted to AMA Pro Racing. The request must be written and accompanied by photographs showing the fender both mounted and unmounted. Any front fender cannot extend more than 16 inches from the front of the lower triple clamp to the leading edge of the fender. All non-Acerbis fenders must be pre-approved before use in AFT competition.

If a rider holds an AFT Twins license their machine will have black number plates with white numbers. If a rider holds an AFT Singles license their machine will have yellow number plates with black numbers.

This is correct. Motocross style helmets are no longer permitted for use in AFT competition. Full-face, road race style helmets that meet technical requirements are required at all tracks.

Yes, for AFT Twins a production engine’s displacement may be modified but may not exceed 900cc. This applies to both making a smaller engine bigger or a larger engine (greater than 900cc) smaller to meet the 900cc maximum displacement limit. Note: AFT Production Twins engines cannot be larger than 800cc.

OE throttle bodies from approved street-legal, production engines may be utilized and modified as long as the maximum inner diameter is no bigger than 40mm. Some examples include but are not limited to: Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Yamaha MT-07 38mm Throttle Bodies, or Suzuki SV650 39mm Throttle Bodies. Note: Approved aftermarket fuel injected throttle bodies or non-OE carburetors must maintain a maximum inner diameter of 38mm.

No, the original number of fuel injectors must be maintained as homologated; secondary, showerhead or supplementary injectors are not permitted.

Yes, starting in 2019, any commercially available inner and outer fork tubes and axle lugs may be used. Modifications are permitted. All other fork parts may be modified.
